Help 17-Year-Old Louay and His Family Survive in Gaza My name is Louay. I am 17 years old and live in Gaza. Before the war, I was a high school student with a dream of graduating and making my family proud. I loved my school, my neighbourhood, and the simple life we had—until everything changed on October 7th.

When the bombing started, we were forced to flee from our home in the north and seek refuge in the south. We left behind everything: our house, our school, our relatives. We have been displaced ever since, struggling just to survive. My school was destroyed. Many of my relatives have been killed. My dreams felt like they were slipping away.

Now, we are back in Gaza City. The conditions are extremely difficult. We are a family of 9: my parents and 7 children. My mother is heavily pregnant and expecting to give birth any day. My older brother is 19, I am 17, my younger brother is 16, we have twin boys aged 14, and our youngest sister is 10.

There is no stable access to food, clean water, or medical care. Every day is a fight to keep going. Yet despite everything, I am determined not to give up on my dreams. I want to survive, to study again, and to help rebuild what was lost—not just for me, but for my siblings too.
